The Scoop on Puzzles

Puzzles and games are much more than just for enjoyment – they involve sequential and spatial reasoning, as well as logical arguments of many sorts.

Here are some questions you should consider when solving problems or puzzles:

  • What do I know for sure?

  • What must happen next if I put this object/number here?

  • What is the only possibility here?

  • What can’t possibly go here?

The Haters will say it's not math! These puzzles and games encourage important habits required in math:

  • not giving up

  • understanding and interpretation

  • awareness of assumptions

  • trial and error

Play is the highest form of research.    – Albert Einstein
